Did you know we are approaching FREEZING temperatures!?

 Protect Your Plants

When the weather is forecasted to be in the 20's or below it is very important to think about your plant material. As a Horticulturist, I highly recommend that you cover your plants!

How to Cover Your Plants

The goal is to not place too much tension on any tender part of the plant.  For example, if you have an evergreen woody shrub, you can drape it over the top and wrap it down by the base.  If you have an up right plant like a clumping bamboo or a sago palm, you can wrap it up like a burrito, protecting it’s foliage all the way down to the base.

Water Your Plants Before the Freeze

Note you can also water your plants overhead with a water hose to keep them warm the night before the freeze.  This might not make sense, however this moisture will actually be warmer than the freezing temperature outdoors, as this will act like a blanket for your plant material. Please don't hesitate to reach out for any questions. We are always happy to help!
